I wanted to share a few thoughts on the current war with Iran. As we try to make sense of what is happening, there are some key questions, historical insights, and important concerns we should focus on. Some examples include: why the war has started, the objectives to be achieved, the accuracy of what we’re being told by our government, and the potential for continued escalation. I share a few thoughts, ask some significant questions, and offer a few ideas on where the war could be headed based on other historical examples. I also offer a few ideas on what that could mean not just abroad but also here domestically.
I discuss what I think the war is and isn’t, the legal questions surrounding the current war with Iran, historical factors such as the Bretton Woods Conference and later creation of the petrodollar, the significance of the Strait of Hormuz, and possible historical insights from previous wars such as those in Afghanistan, Iraq (1991 and 2003), and even Vietnam.
