All four DeepDive writing courses are now part of the Otherppl Craftwork Library—available together for $25/month, online and in the Patreon app.

A quick update for those of you who have followed DeepDive over the past couple of years.

I’ve made a change.

When I launched DeepDive, I built it as a standalone home for the long-form audio courses I’d been producing with writers and publishing professionals. It had its own website, its own membership system, and eventually its own mobile app.

Meanwhile, I was continuing to produce Otherppl and build the Craftwork Library on Patreon—a growing collection of premium conversations about writing, publishing, books, and the creative life.

At a certain point, maintaining two separate worlds stopped making much sense.

So I’ve brought them together.

DeepDive is now part of Otherppl.

I’ve moved the complete DeepDive course catalog into the Otherppl Patreon, where the courses now live alongside the Craftwork Library.

The idea is simple: one membership, one library, one place for everything.

The DeepDive Courses

The complete catalog currently includes:

How to Write a Novel
A massive, 55+ hour course featuring more than 40 acclaimed writers and publishing professionals, covering the entire novel-writing process—from the blank page through drafting and revision to finding an agent and bringing a book into the world.

How to Write Autobiographical Fiction with Hannah Pittard
An 8+ hour exploration of transforming lived experience into fiction, with acclaimed novelist Hannah Pittard and featured instructor Michael Wheaton, founder and publisher of Autofocus Books.

How to Get the Reader Onboard with Steve Almond
A 5+ hour course about one of the most fundamental problems in storytelling: how to earn a reader’s attention and trust—and keep them turning the page.

How to Write Literary Collage with David Shields
A 5+ hour exploration of fragments, juxtaposition, found material, voice, structure, and the possibilities that emerge when writers break free from conventional narrative form.

One Membership Unlocks Everything

The new DeepDive membership is $25/month. (People have been asking me to create a subscription model, and now it exists!)

That gives you unlimited access to all four DeepDive courses.

But it also gives you something that wasn’t part of DeepDive before: the complete Craftwork Library.

That means dozens of additional premium conversations and masterclasses about fiction, poetry, memoir, publishing, literary agents, revision, book publicity, creativity, the writing life, and much more—with new material being added on a rolling basis.

I’ve organized everything into Collections, so you can browse individual DeepDive courses or explore the Craftwork Library by subject.

Listen Online or on Your Phone

DeepDive is still an audio-first experience.

You can listen online through Patreon, just as you’d listen to any other streaming audio.

And if you prefer listening on your phone—as I know many of you do—you can use the Patreon app for iPhone or Android.

Once you’re a DeepDive member, sign into the app, open Collections, and you’ll find the complete course catalog and Craftwork Library waiting for you.

In other words, the home has changed.

The courses haven’t.

You can still put on your headphones, walk the dog, drive to work, wash the dishes, or sit under a tree and listen.

Why I Made the Change

Mostly, I wanted to simplify.

Running DeepDive as an entirely separate platform meant maintaining another website, another app, another membership system, and another technological ecosystem.

At the same time, the distinction between DeepDive and Craftwork was becoming increasingly artificial. Both grew out of the same thing I’ve been doing with Otherppl for the past fifteen years: sitting down with writers and other literary people and trying to understand how the work gets made.

Bringing everything together allows me to spend less time maintaining platforms and more time making things.

It also creates a serious, growing audio library for writers.

  • DeepDive courses for when you want sustained, structured instruction.

  • Craftwork conversations when you want to explore a particular question, technique, or corner of the literary world.

  • And Otherppl itself—always free, wherever podcasts are available!—the ongoing conversation with writers about books, art, and the strange business of making a creative life.

All under one roof.

If you’ve been curious about DeepDive, this is a good time to take a look.

$25/month gets you the entire DeepDive course catalog and the complete Craftwork Library. Cancel anytime.

And if you’ve supported DeepDive in the past: thank you. I’ve been communicating separately with existing customers about the transition, and all previous purchases and lifetime access are being honored.

Consider this the beginning of the next chapter.

Thanks, as always, for listening—and for supporting independent literary culture.
