How you can build an online community

That is what one of my best friends said to me in fifth grade. I was standing at the edge of a diving board, looking down. “That’s a long way, maybe I should go back down”, “Ok, I’ll jump, but how do I jump? Tuck my legs? Not sure I can do that. I’ll bounce a bit, see where that goes.”

I used to be a think everything through then jump person. To an extent, I still am. I plotted my business for about a year before jumping in. That’s a good thing to plot. I created my X account by jumping first. I knew I could not post what I wanted to in public. I tried that in 2020 after the election, only to receive a call that three Colonels in the Army were watching my videos to determine if I was trying to incite violence.

My communities on X and substack were accidental. I began my journey talking about public speaking which, I eventually realized, most people are terrified of. At some point, I started talking about court stories. Relatable to 99% of the population.
