(Cross posting from r/RomanceBooks)
TLDR: I was never too big on romances, but recently I got really invested in a YouTube channel that makes book reviews, mostly romance. A lot of it is poorly written or pretty boring with a wide variety of the most popular tropes and stereotypes, most of the people are traditionally attractive and I find it pretty boring after hearing about dozens of such books (a lot of these books were booktok hits or popular among romance readers, so it wasn't some niche). Anyway, I could never relate to these books since I both cannot relate to the FMCs and don't find the MMCs attractive speaking of their physical appearance and behaviors (especially when they're toxic and abusive).
So I am looking for a book that fits a certain niche that's focused on a hetero romance but the MMC or just the love interest is gender non-conforming or overall an eccentric, unusual and surprising person. Can be anything ranging from drag queens (also whatever Mettaton from Undertale has going on, idk how the entire style and personality mix is called) through ladyboys, somebody that a lot of people would call a "stereotypical gay man", androgynous men, guys that look like some k pop idols (look fe; Jo Kwon or Felix), flamboyant or glam guys, up to femboys and everything I haven't listed and everything else that could be considered a not typical gender expression, both visually or mentally. Can be anything that isn't a typical booktok man actually and I'd call it a progress.
Bonus points if the FMC isn't as feminine as in an avarage book, but I don't require that.
