Scene Stormers This Way Comes

Consider this your invitation to join me in a low-cost, small-group coaching opportunity beginning in September. The six-week scene writing bootcamp is much less expensive than one-on-one coaching. For $100 per week, you get not just one but five highly trained and experienced writing mentors and developmental editors to help you with your craft for six weeks.

We will be covering the fundamentals of scene organization, giving each writer detailed personalized feedback on their scenes each week. You will receive both written feedback in annotations to your scene submission and a recorded video of your coach explaining their feedback. Each member of the Scene Stormers team will have fewer than a handful of writers to work with directly so that you can get the personalized attention you need.

Each week will also include a detailed, live training about one of the elements of a scene. The ninety-minute weekly sessions will be recorded for you if you cannot attend them live. As part of the weekly workshop, we will also be breaking down masterwork scenes from The Hunger Games to demonstrate and illustrate the techniques that we teach.

When I first decided to “get serious” about writing, I had this completely unrational, irreasonable expectation that I could just sit down, type the words until THE END, and I would have an enduring work of fiction. (No, I won’t tell you how long ago that was. It’s Top Secret®.) One of

Beginning in September 2026, several of my favorite peers and I will begin teaching a six-week scene writing bootcamp that we are affectionately branding as Scene Stormers. We will be discussing the well-known fundamentals of fiction writing that all the cool kids since Aristotle first wrote down that stories need a beginning, a muddle (my term), and an end in The Poetics and we will be giving you human-generated feedback on your scenes.

We (Scene Stormers) are currently assembling our curriculum and we will be publishing it all in advance, because (Spoiler Alert! ⚠️) there are no secrets in storytelling. The primary value that we provide to you (our customers) is the weekly discussions during the six-week bootcamp and the one-on-one human feedback on your writing every week.
