Looking to Interview Men for My Book!

Things have been unusually quiet over here at The Book I Want to Write over the past year, as I’ve been hard at work on my own book, as well as moving across the country, among other big life transitions.

I’ve also started writing again about men and masculinity, a topic I used to cover frequently.

I just published a long essay-review for New Lines Magazine on what shows like Adolescence and writers like Scott Galloway and Richard Reeves have to tell us about the current “crisis with boys and men,” for example.

Meanwhile, my book explores questions about men and sexual harm—such as, why is so hard to have public conversations about it? What are the things that get in the way?

I’m interested in talking to men and male-identified folks about their experiences—less about extreme or criminal acts, and more about the everyday moments that didn’t sit right. Encounters where something felt off, where intent and impact diverged, where harm happened even when no one meant for it to.

I want to understand what actually happens in these moments and why they’re so hard to face or talk about honestly. What makes accountability feel impossible? What would repair even look like?

These are genuine questions, not rhetorical ones—I’m here to listen, not to judge or condemn.

At the moment, I’m looking to interview men about these experiences. What happened? What would make it better? What does repair or accountability actually look like?

For men/male identified folks: I would love to talk with you. This is a safe space, NOT a “gotcha” interview. I know many of us were copying cultural scripts without knowing better. I want to hear what men feel, fear, and rarely get to say—there’s no perfect language required.

For women/women-identified folks: If you know men who might be interested in participating—friends, partners, colleagues—please share this with them.

For interviewees, your identity will be completely protected, but what you share may be used in the book.
