If it wasn't already crystal clear, books are still running the entertainment world. Just last week, the Emmys announced the 2026 nominees, and while The Pitt and Hacks dominated the conversation, a lot of adaptations also made quite the mark. Bridgerton and The Testaments felt like expected contenders, but I was ecstatic to see People We Meet on Vacation hit the nomination list.
So, because our TBRs clearly aren't long enough already, I put together a complete list of every book adaptation that received an Emmy nomination this year (so you can read them ahead of September).
📖 Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn
At the beginning of this year, Netflix dropped its fourth season, which showcased the second-oldest Bridgerton sibling, Benedict and his love interest, Sophie Baek. This season took a spin on the classic Cinderella story, with Benedict and Sophie meeting at a masquerade ball. To hide her identity, Sophie is forced to flee before Benedict ever learns her name, and, in turn, his search begins.

📖 The Testaments by Margaret Atwood
Written as the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, this series jumps 15 years into the future and is told from the points of view of three women: Aunt Lydia, a character from the first novel, Agnes Jemima, a woman living in Gilead, and Daisy, a young woman living in Canada. This dystopian tale will continue on Disney+ and Hulu for a second season.

📖 A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin
Based on a collection of three novellas, the series follows the adventures of a young knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. Egg is secretly Prince Aegon Targaryen, as this world is set 100 years before Game of Thrones. This is also a time when dragons were extinct, but the Targaryens still ruled. The first season dropped this past January, and the second season has already been renewed and is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
