We have a unique writing prompt for you today—one that may not only stoke your creative fi re but stir your heart as well.
If it’s convenient to do so, consider setting up your environment for twenty minutes of deep time with your pen and paper or computer.
–Turn on some soft music that welcomes your emotions. –Put your phone in “Do Not Disturb” mode. –Light a candle or two.
–Take a few slow, deep breaths.
And now imagine that your great-grandmother is sitting with you—across the table from you or by your side.
This could be either your maternal or paternal great-grandmother, whoever pops into your awareness fi rst. And if you didn’t have the chance to meet her in this lifetime, no problem. She will be with you now.
What was her name? What did she look like? If your knowledge of her is vague, simply trust whatever arises. Maybe you’ll sense her more than “see” her in your mind’s eye.
In spirit, she is one of your wise elders—someone who helped pave the way for you to be here. And today, she is your writing partner. She is your oracle, able to help you bring forth your deepest knowing and truth.
Without overthinking it, what would you like to ask her today?
Here are three questions you can use if you resonate with any or all of them:
1. I’m feeling stuck in this area of my life: _____________. What do I need to see about this situation—or this part of my life—to move forward?
2. What would you like me to know about the book I’m thinking of writing (or have already begun to write)?
3. How can I best navigate this tumultuous time we’re experiencing in the world right now?
Other questions may bubble up for you. What is in your heart to ask?
Write for however long you feel moved to—twenty minutes, ten minutes, even an hour.

Dear writer, if you try this prompt, what surprised you most about what came through?
With you on the writing path,
Debra & Kristine
