The internet is the Wild West, and at this point, almost nothing surprises me anymore. While scrolling the other day, I stumbled across a video with 10 million views of a girl spraying hairspray on her eyelashes.
The first thing that came to mind was, “Miss, I don’t think this is safe.”
While some people may think, “Hair is hair. Hair on my scalp, hair on my eyes. I want to style it and keep it in place. Same thing.”
NO.
The good news is that our world still has hope. The comment section was full of people saying, “You are going to get an infection,” and, “I’m an ophthalmologist, please don’t do this.” There were a few outliers saying, “Oh! Great idea.” I’m choosing to ignore those comments and take it as a win for the majority.
The truth is that I understand her pain point. Downward-facing lashes. I really do. I have them too, and keeping them lifted has been a struggle for me for years. I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time researching products, testing techniques, and trying to figure out what actually works. So I'm here to help you look fabulous and keep your vision intact.
The good news (yes, another one! What a day!) is that there is actually a product designed for this exact purpose. It works like hairspray for your lashes, except it’s made for the eye area and doesn’t threaten your vision. It’s the little wins, you know?
I wear this product to the gym, for example, because I don’t like wearing makeup there, but my lashes stay lifted. It’s also perfect if you prefer a more natural look. It can even work as a primer before mascara, giving your lashes extra support to stay lifted throughout the day.
Also, I don’t know if you know this, but there is a niche group of people who simply don’t enjoy wearing mascara at all. It’s kind of edgy.
Whatever the reason, this product works. It keeps everything in place all day.
One thing to know about this lash “finisher”: it doesn’t curl your lashes for you. Just like regular hairspray doesn’t create a hairstyle, this product doesn’t create the curl. You need to curl your lashes first and create the shape you want. Once they’re lifted, this product helps lock everything in place.

The formula is completely transparent, so it works beautifully on its own or under most mascaras.
Make sure to coat your lashes from root to tip. Just like hairspray, it needs to be distributed evenly to do its job properly. Wiggle the wand as you apply it so the product gets between the lashes and coats them thoroughly.

Somehow, within the span of a single week, I discovered two products that actually work: the drugstore mascara I mentioned above and a clean mascara that isn’t on the market yet.
