Refining My Business And Personal Brand For Clarity

Over the past few months, I’ve been stepping back and evaluating/reevaluating the structure of everything I’ve built.

When you spend over a decade building a company, writing books, speaking, creating content, partnering with brands, and growing a community, layers naturally develop. What begins as one focused platform slowly expands. New opportunities come in. New audiences find you and new interests evolve.

And growth is a blessing. But if you’re not careful, growth without structure can create confusion.

I started noticing a pattern in the questions people would ask me:

Where do I book you for speaking?
Where can I find your books?
Is this separate from Clever Girl Finance?
Which website should I go to?

None of these questions are wrong. But when people are unsure where to land, that’s a signal. It told me that while my work was clear, my structure needed refinement.

So I decided to simplify.

I’ve now intentionally structured my brand presence into three distinct homes, each serving a specific purpose. These “homes” existed before but had too much overlap and were not clear enough. Instead of everything overlapping, each platform now has a defined role.

This is the foundation.

Clever Girl Finance is the financial education company. It houses the courses, the podcast, YouTube, articles, partnerships, brand collaborations, and the broader educational mission focused on helping women build financial confidence and long-term wealth.

This platform is about impact at scale. It is structured around service, resources, and practical tools. When someone is looking for financial education, budgeting guidance, investing content, or community support, this is the safe space they can go.

This is the mission-driven engine.

This is where I show up as…Bola Sokunbi :)

While Clever Girl Finance is the company, BolaSokunbi.com is the platform for my voice as a speaker, and thought leader. It is designed specifically for event organizers, media outlets, corporations, and organizations seeking keynote speaking, workshops, interviews, and thought leadership collaborations.

Separating this from Clever Girl Finance was important. It allows me to present my personal brand clearly and professionally without diluting the educational focus of the business.

When someone wants to book me, they now know exactly where to go.

Writing is its own lane.

After publishing six books and navigating traditional publishing, marketing, platform building, and long-term author growth, I realized that this part of my work deserved its own dedicated space.

Clever Girl Author is focused specifically on my journey and experience as a bestselling author. It houses information about my books and also creates space to share insights for other writers who want to build sustainable careers in publishing.

Author identity and business identity overlap, but they are not the same. Separating them creates clarity not only for my audience, but for me.

For me this isn’t about aesthetics or about adding more websites. It was about alignment and creating clarity to remove friction.

When everything sits under one umbrella without distinction, it becomes harder for people to understand what you do and how to engage with you. It also makes it harder for you to operate efficiently.

By defining these three avenues:

  • My audience can navigate more easily.

  • Partners and media contacts know exactly where to land.

  • My positioning in each area becomes stronger.

  • Internally, my team and I operate with more precision.

And there’s another layer to this that many entrepreneurs overlook: search-ability.

This one has been on my mind.

We are no longer just optimizing for traditional search engines like Google. We are optimizing for AI platforms, large language models, and emerging discovery tools that prioritize clearly defined digital footprints. (If you’ve been here a while, I’ve talked about this on my older Substack updates).

And so based on what I’ve learned, I know that when each of my platforms has a focused purpose, defined messaging, and strong keyword alignment, it improves discoverability across both traditional search engines and AI-powered systems.

This year, my word is peace and my focus is doing more of what works.

I’m not adding noise and I’m not expanding for the sake of expansion.
I’m also not chasing every thing. Instead, I’m refining.

There is a difference between growth that feels chaotic and growth that feels aligned. What I’m building now feels aligned and it feels intentional.

I genuinely feel like I’m stepping into a season of shift, not because everything is changing, but because everything is becoming clearer.

I’m excited about what this next chapter looks like.

Thanks for reading!
