Hi there! I'm Fritzi and Bohemian Sultriness is my personal website where I talk about books , films , games , music and my adventures in web design. What you're looking at is my - pretty - RSS feed . If you want to keep up with my undoubtedly magnificent updates, you should subscribe. Now. GROOVY See Fritzi do the Watusi ! my other websites my love If you don't treat her right, my friend // You're gonna find her gone // 'Cause I will treat her right, and then // You'll be the lonely one //…
Reflecting on my decades-spanning presence on the Internet, I can safely say, that for the most part I've not been involved with social media. I made a Facebook account as soon as it was available in Germany but it already wasn't as fun anymore as being on StudiVZ . I kept my Facebook account for years - although I never posted anything - because I thought it necessary to keep up with what's going…
I took a break from the Internet. It wasn't a digital detox or some other deliberate act of defiance - it just happened. A severe case of I ain't got too much to say no more. Easy now. Relax! I'm done with the Red Dead Redemption quotes now. 🤞🏻 So, what did I do? I watched quite a few films, many of them deserve a spot on my recommendations list . Maybe I'll get around to writing a few words…
But also quite the huge update! Over the past couple of weeks, I played a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 - to be precise: 252 hours of Wild West adventures. FritziBot clearly picked up on that too. I also somehow found the time to (re)watch a few films and wrote about them. And now, back to fishing Legendary Fish and brushing my horses.
I did it, I finally bought a PlayStation 5 . After putting it off for so long, the upcoming release of Mafia: The Old Country was my incentive to buy. I guess I can't resist San Celeste in the summertime, horses and a Lupara. Since I now spend my free time playing Mafia Trilogy - mainly collecting pulp magazines and foxes - I thought it fitting to add some more games to my website. 🍋
My Film Fridays seem to have a Billy Wilder theme now. I've added Double Indemnity to my film collection. I also updated the Eau de Perfume Parlour pixel clique , added a patch to my secret Q*Bee quilt and tweaked all randomising scripts across all my website but most notably on The Nerk Twins - enjoy even more McLennon quotes and photos! And yet again, I (hopefully) optimised the regex for my…
I bit the bullet and replaced all my neat modal lightboxes with a custom lightbox script of my own, because I didn't like how the modals behaved on page load. Now it's much more pleasant. You're welcome to use my lightbox script on your own website if you'd like — you can find it in the tutorials section. Naturally, I updated my site info accordingly and added a short note about how FritziBot came…
After all the discussions about — and with — AI, I decided to make my own virtual companion. Arguably less smart, but definitely more charming. Meet FritziBot .
AI revolt: New ChatGPT model refuses to shut down when instructed . AI system resorts to blackmail if told it will be removed . Well, this sounds concerning. Or maybe, if you are well versed when it comes to AI technology, it does not come as a surprise at all. Either way, I decided to sit down and ask the hard question, directed towards a true insider if you will - ChatGPT itself. Disclaimer :…
Just kidding... actually I have some great ideas in my head - which only lead to adding two films and another album. I also joined a few more fanlistings. That's your cue to join mine as well. 😌 .
The last couple of weeks I've been thinking: about A.I. — which makes me increasingly disillusioned and annoyingly insecure about my own writing abilities —, main character syndrome and the antidote that could be experiencing ego death — which made me add to my original post on Franny and Zooey . I also watched a few more films, but added only two new ones to my website along with a great and…
I've watched Enough Said the other night - a supposedly romantic comedy that made me sad. In my melancholic state, I typed out a mini review. On another note, I'm still thoroughly enjoying browsing the r/MafiaTheGame. It's heartwarming to see such verve and enthusiasm in the way some characters and their actions are analysed, defended, and cherished. I just hope game developers take threads like…
I updated my web design journey. I added all new CSS modal shenanigans and their pros and cons. I also threw in a few more headlines to give the illusion of more structure. That aside, I'm still working on my super secret new site addition. It takes all my creative energy so I couldn't come up with something to make an April fool out of you. ☹️
After being quite thrilled about using CSS modals to display photos in a lightbox, I then realised that - depending on the structure of your website - setting an abundance of anchor links for the modal to work, might mess up the back button function of your browser. So I wrote a simple JavaScript that mimics my CSS modal solution. I have used Lokesh Dhakar's Lightbox script for a long time but it…
It all started with Kurt Cobain - or rather Nikki's website Montage of Kurt . I love the layout and I find it particularly quirky how Nikki uses modals for credits & site info. I somehow forgot about modals... Anyways, this gave me the still rather vague idea to add something to my own website and/or remove the JavaScript powered Quilting Bee pop-up. As I looked more into modals and overlays, one…
The past couple of days I've been watching a complete walkthrough of Mafia: Definitive Edition . Yes, I don't own a PlayStation 4 , so that was sadly my only option. I must say, as unhappy as I am with the whole franchise, they really outdid themselves with the remake. I did play the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven years ago on PC. Loved it of course! In hindsight though it is hilarious…
Inspired by kaylee rowena 's blogpost in search of a like button , I rewrote my likebutton.js script and now it's actually fully functional by using Google Form and Google Sheet to submit and store likes. The best part, if you think that's just fab and want it for your own website, you can fetch it here . I tried my best to explain how to set it up and I provided two versions: one for one like…
I finally updated my journey in web design . I talked about how I made my fanlist and what problems I ran into. I briefly mentioned how fun XSL is and I made a new section for tutorials I made (just 2).
You can now submit your - no doubt - fabulous artwork to my gallery . I spent my whole Friday afternoon to modify the original script to match my website and added a moderation function - just in case. I must say, it turned out very nice! And another important update: I finally got The Sopranos on BluRay and I can confirm that Tony is especially attractive in 1080p. 🤍
I've added one of my many favourite Al Pacino films and finally rectified the neglect of not having a special Sopranos font. And since I have your attention now - hopefully - can I interest you in joining my fanlist ?
For about a week I see people - and more precisely Starbreaker - taking TakenVaullt 's Music Questions Challenge and since music is dear to me and I want to give my RSS feed a bit more love and content, here it is: What are five of your favorite albums? Rubber Soul , Revolver , The Beatles , Abbey Road , A Hard Day's Night - all by The Beatles of course. That was not that surprising, eh? Read…
Thanks to all of you, who submitted to my love jar - I've added all your entries. I also put up another favourite album of mine: Face to Face by The Kinks.
I revised some of my book reviews and added another one that's special to me. And yes, another Dean Martin album because I'm seemingly stuck in my mobster era.
Since I'm so proud of my jukebox script that I wrote for this site, I also implemented it on my webring's site to replace the Spotify embedded playlist.
I changed the mobile navigation on my webring to a nifty hamburger-style menu, using only the HTML popover element. It was easier than I thought and I wrote about how I did it in my ongoing web design journey here .
My love for any kind of aesthetic styling knows no bounds: I spend way too much time on tweaking my RSS feed, which is - I know - sort of pointless. But at least I love looking at it.
I finally updated my in-page navigation to semantic standards and wrote about the problems I ran into whilst doing so and how I fixed them. I also updated the credits section in my Q*Bee quilt and very briefly explained how I toggle visibility without using JavaScript.
