May 26th 2013.
I remember the day vividly. It was exactly one year after my brother had died. I had gone into the city to get a tattoo in his honor. And I’d love to tell you that I remember the day. That I felt the impact of the tattoo I got in his honor.
At this point, I was in the largest body I had ever been in. All the weight from my weight loss surgery had started to come back. I was amidst the most horrible grief I’ve ever survived —
I remember I didn’t talk to anyone about anyone.
I believed that this doesn’t happen to other people.
I remember finding a rogue reddit thread that mentioned how baby powder helped post the chaffing, but back then —
Fast forward to over a decade later - and there are so many options to treat and prevent chafing.
AMB had slid into my DMs a few weeks back — and I remember chuckling at their name. (I also remember laughing about it on this podcast of my podcast: Body Grief: Finding Meaning
I really love their smooth anti-friction chafing stick for those sensitive areas. I love how good it smells and the softness of the shea butter as it’s applied.
My other favorite solution is a two for one. The Anti Friction Body Powder is great as a chafing preventative — but i’ve been using to sooth chaffed skin. It’s soft calamine agent expedites healing of any chafed skin. Plus — it’s so on brand, as the powder it self is pink. ✨
Chaffing shouldn’t be shameful or painful.
AMB can help you with the pain —I can help you with the shame.
