Alright friends!
Tonight is this month’s Moonlit Sit where we’re gathering to do the simplest, strangest, most underrated practice there is: touching the earth.
Last week we practiced grounding right in the middle of modern life, which is a near-constant invitation to rush up and away into our fears, our perfectionisms, our polarizations, into the late-stage-capitalistic survival reflexes that pull us out of ourselves.
In this cultural wind tunnel, grounding is a quiet rebellion. It cuts through the upward striving that insists we’re never enough, and it dissolves the fantasy that wisdom lives somewhere other than our own bones.
And damn, is it a practice, y’all.
I get pulled up and out of myself an astronomical number of times a day. But every time I notice, it’s a wild reunion: I come back into relationship with the ground and realize that, in fact, I never left! No matter my mood, my circumstance, or the ever-shifting shitstorm of my emotional weather, there is an unshakeable dignity under it all. An awareness that, like the earth, holds everything.
And so it goes. We lose ourselves in the updraft, and discover ourselves again on the way down. Instead of treating this constant oscillation as a problem, we can read it like the seasons. Every time you’re carried away is a little summer storm. And every return is autumn again: a settling, a gathering, a landing.
Lets touch down together tonight 😊 details below.
