Before we begin, I would love to remind you of our August Training Camp special subscription offer to new annuals. This month, our best price of the year is available where you can lock in a year of Sturmstack for $5.33 a month ($64 annually). It ends when August ends. Jump on it!

The breaking news Monday wasn’t completely unannounced as we noticed Quinnen Williams’ agent walking the practice field the days before, but still, Dallas doesn’t do massive contracts the easy way, do they?

Stephen Jones did give us an indication a week ago that Dallas was open to the idea of an extension and things quickly fell into place. Quinnen wishes to play for a contender and Dallas wishes to be a contender while reimagining their defense in a post-Micah Parsons universe. I should say they have gone a long way at that re-imagination with the way this defense has been put together.

  • Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams - Traded for in 2025 with Micah Parsons ammo.

  • Christian Parker and staff - Hired in January.

  • Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, Otito Ogbonnia and Cobie Durant - signed in March.

  • Caleb Downs, Malachi Lawrence, Jaishawn Barham, Devin Moore, LT Overton - Drafted in April.

Now, the level of demand was not super high in all of these players and we are not trying to convince anyone that all of these guys will actually be part of the big solution, but we do know that there are three in particular that we are rather convinced are huge steps forward.

  1. Quinnen Williams - arguably the best DT in the NFL.

  2. Christian Parker - the most in-demand young defensive mind in the league.

  3. Caleb Downs - arguably the biggest defensive difference maker in the cfb ranks.

There it is. The big trifecta of talent. If these three cook, then this can be a fun few years. And there are no sure things in the NFL, but those three guys are pretty close to it, I would wager. The only issue when projecting the 2027-2029 Cowboys defense being built around these three is if Christian Parker is a head coach somewhere else for being too successful – like our Dan Quinn issue in 2024 in Washington (noted: good problem to have!)

So, according to our reports, the total contract is as follows:
