There are certain people who come into your life and make everything better without ever asking for credit. That’s Lynette.

Our working arrangement didn’t come from a headhunter or a job site. It started at a neighborhood party, and it just clicked.

The role has morphed several times and continues to evolve as life changes. (She adds more to it than she takes away.)

If I were searching for someone to fill this position, no one would answer my ad. The responsibilities are deep, unexpected, challenging... and really fun.

If you’ve ever attended one of my events, read an interview, seen me on TV, listened to a podcast or watched a book tour come together, chances are you’ve seen the result of Lynette’s work. What you probably haven’t seen are the hundreds of phone calls, emails, schedules, moving pieces and last-minute pivots she quietly handled to make it all happen.

Flights, speaking engagements, events

She’s the kind of person who somehow makes the impossible feel easy. When everyone else is stressed, she’s calm (on the outside, I hear). When something goes wrong, she’s already working on three solutions before anyone even realizes there’s a problem. She has this incredible ability to anticipate what’s needed before anyone asks.

But that’s only part of why I love her.

Over the years, Lynette has become so much more than the person who oversees communications and partnerships. She’s one of my closest friends and neighbors. She has an amazing instinct, incredible judgment and, thankfully, a sense of humor that has gotten us through more than a few long days.

Store events, interviews, TV segments, awards ceremonies, US Open

One of my favorite things about Lynette is that she never makes anything about herself. She celebrates everyone else’s wins, supports the people around her and somehow finds time to make everyone feel important. That’s a rare quality.

People often ask me what makes a great team. Of course talent matters, but kindness matters more. Loyalty matters. Trust matters. Showing up every day with integrity matters. Lynette has all of those things.

Book signings, tours, power women talking circles

I don’t say this enough to her, but I couldn’t do what I do without her. So much of what people see publicly is only possible because of the work she does behind the scenes. She makes me look better every single day, and she does it with grace, humility and an incredible work ethic. So today, on her birthday, I want to spotlight her.

Advice to every entrepreneur… go find your own Lynette (think Lucy + Ethel, Thelma + Louise)…

Happy Birthday Friend !!

Love,
Bobbi
