For some time now, I’ve been feeling called to write and speak about something I call “Practical Positivity.”
I’ve spent decades creating affirmations, publishing books, recording music, and encouraging people to think more positively.
I deeply believe in the power of our thoughts.
If all you do is repeat affirmations while sitting on the coach, you may be disappointed by the results.
Personal growth involves a more comprehensive approach.
That’s why I believe positivity works best when it’s paired with awareness, acceptance, and inspired action.
That’s what Practical Positivity means to me.
It’s looking honestly at your past and current circumstances while refusing to let them define your future.
It’s asking, “Given where I am right now, compared to where I want to be, what’s the most empowering way to move forward?”
Whenever I find myself feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or uncertain, I come back to these three simple principles:
This is the best place to start.
We spend so much energy worrying about other people’s opinions, the economy, politics, the past, or what might happen tomorrow.
Some things deserve our attention. Many don’t.
Peace begins the moment you stop trying to control what’s outside your influence and start focusing on what is within your reach.
Sometimes, the next step isn’t adding something new. It’s letting something go.
That might be a limiting belief. A grudge. A habit that no longer serves you. An unrealistic expectation.
Making space can be just as powerful as making progress.
This is where positivity becomes real. Not tomorrow. Not someday.
You don’t need to have your entire life figured out. You just need the courage to take the next meaningful step.
That one action builds momentum. Momentum builds confidence. Confidence builds possibility.
And before you know it, your life begins to change—not because you waited for the perfect moment, but because you kept moving forward.
Not blind optimism. Not wishful thinking.
Just a grounded, hopeful approach to living that recognizes the realities of your current circumstances while holding a clear vision of the life you want.
Because positivity isn’t passive.
With gratitude,
Bob
