On one hand, you shouldn’t care what people think and say about you.

Caring too much can lead to self-doubt and unnecessary fear.

However, there are times when you should pay close attention to what some people say about you.

And, in specific circumstances, there’s a big benefit in asking people for their honest feedback on how you impact their lives.

Here’s an example of some unsolicited feedback I received from a musician friend:

I hope you have. It’s very rewarding.

But sometimes, it’s okay to directly ask someone to send you their thoughts on the impact you’ve had on them.

Testimonials like these are beneficial for two reasons:

  • One, they give you valuable feedback that proves to yourself that you are making a difference. And that confirmation fuels your mission!

  • Two, it serves as social proof that you are truly helping people, which can encourage others to benefit from the talents, wisdom, and expertise you offer.
