Helloooo just echoing what others have said about reports from an unknown place!! I love it because it feels both familiar (like I’ve also seen that sky and be struck by the beauty of it in my everyday life) and also eye opening like it shows me something I wouldn’t have noticed by myself. And the light! The way you portray light is amazing. I always find it very comforting to see on my feed. Thank you for creating and sharing!

Thank you so much, this really does mean a lot to me. I'm also learning everyday while working on this project. My weather talk has gotten so good. Also, it's nice when you've gotten used to really look at the small things in the sky, because you are never ever bored.

Your illustrations of clouds is so beautiful. I have a soft spot for clouds in art because I constantly photograph the sky and the main subject 90% of the time is, you guessed it, clouds. The depth and the way the catch light is different everytime and you capture those elements so very well.

I love this! I think it's pretty difficult to take good pictures of the sky in general. I mean, I think it gets difficult when you're trying to capture something specific, because then the difference between what you see and what the camera sees becomes much more obvious. Although cameras are much better at looking straight at the sun, which is a definite advantage. Thank you for your kind words!

Hi there! Your clever reports blog is my favorite blog ever, it makes me very happy and inspired. Are you okay with people making art to reblog with your posts? I would love to draw how I imagine the researchers and the things they see, but only if that is okay with you. Either way, thank you so much for sharing your work.

Have you ever considered making a book out of the art and writing on your @cleverreports blog? It is absolutely one of my favourite blogs and would make a gorgeous art book or something.

Thank you so much! Back in 2020, I made one book per season, and then a complete collection of the first year, but then found it difficult to find the right companies to print/ship with reliably. I’m currently writing something for potential editors, to try and put this project out there the right way! I’m awful at this stuff, so wish me luck…

[Video ID: A slideshow featuring 24 square pastel drawings of the sky, each one depicting a different hour of the day in chronological order. /end ID] We report 2023 days of Reports From Unknown Places! I usually like to take milestones as excuses to try something new and confusing with Reports. This year, I missed the 5-year anniversary back in March, so the 2000 days anniversary had to be extra…

I just discovered Reports from Unknown Places, and I’m in absolute awe of how beautifully you capture the sky. I’m a long term looking at the sky enjoyer and your paintings remind me of being a kid and first falling in love with how Big it all is. Not to mention how much dedication it takes to do a painting everyday! Hello??? Truly thank you so much for sharing your sky paintings! (also, apologies for the spam likes/reblogs from me)

Hi! This is such an interesting question. First of all, thank you so much for your kind words, I’m so so glad you’re enjoying this project! And then, I don’t think there’s a specific place, and I don’t think anyone is keeping track of that anywhere. I do archive all of the reports on my website , though I’m missing a few months at this point (I need to fix this as soon as possible, and also the…

Your cleverreports blog is a massive inspiration to me and has ignited a love of clouds and a habit of stopping and staring up (and photographing) at the sky every time i have the awareness to do so. Every time i see one of your posts its always such a treat and i stop myself to spend some time with your words and your art. I hope you have a fantastic day/evening/night and that the clouds are gorgeous and impressive overhead always.

cleverreports : ALT We report as light moves from the sky to the street lamps: there is a patch of wasteland between two houses where heather blooms in the summer. Our expert took us there tonight, and the crickets could be heard from down the road, and the smell of the dry brush coloured the air.

identifying-clouds : cleverreports : ALT We report: in the small hours of the morning, we caught a few fairies dancing far above the storm. They immediately hid from view again, obviously self-conscious of our noticing them. Our expert whispered about transient luminous events, as though afraid of spooking them away. Ok so this is a painting, and a very good one at that, but this is a really real,…
