Good morning, hello, the internet is back up and running in one part of North Liverpool.

Firstly, we have finally 1,800 subscribers! It’s been a long time waiting, I did have my doubts I must admit, but a huge landmark for myself and the newsletter. Now ‘Target 2000’ starts!

The World Cup is in its business end and Liverpool are slowly beginning their pre-season schedule.

It’s slowly bubbling away, surely the real stuff is about to kick off now? With that being said, it’ll be a slightly smaller bill this week.

Headlines this week⚽

🧱 Eduardo Camavinga is not in Jose Mourinho’s plans at Real Madrid, but he hopes to play his way into the thinking during pre-season. Liverpool are among the clubs reportedly monitoring his services, along with Manchester United (Mundo Deportivo).

🥤 Bradley Barcola is at the “very top” of Liverpool’s transfer shortlist. There is a serious possibility that the winger leaves Paris Saint-Germain this summer (Fabrizio Romano).

But the France international, who is looking to be a World Cup winner by the time the season kicks off, could cost a significant amount. PSG are said to be looking for around £127.8million (€150m) for his services but the demands leave Liverpool and Premier League clubs as the only ones who can afford him (Emery Taisne - L’Equipe).

🔥 Liverpool are aware of the abilities of Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora. The 17-year-old was one of the youngest players at this summer’s World Cup and has reportedly caught the Reds’ eye. His release clause is said to be £20m (Daily Mail).

‼️ The Liverpool ECHO’s Paul Gorst crunched the latest speculation surrounding Liverpool players. Here is a selected passage, full story can be found here.

Curtis Jones: The Liverpool midfielder faces an uncertain future as he enters the final year of his contract. The Reds want to keep him and reopen talks over a new deal but no discussions are lined up while it remains to be seen if Andoni Iraola can offer him game time.

Virgil van Dijk: Links with a move to AC Milan and Turkish side Fenerbahce have been robustly dismissed by sources at Anfield. Liverpool are planning for a season with the Dutchman, who will be important in the Basque’s first season.

🇳🇱 Arne Slot is one of the candidates to become the new Netherlands coach. The former Liverpool boss is among the shortlist to replace Ronald Koeman, who resigned in light of their World Cup exit (Florian Plettenberg).

🪽 Liverpool are planning to bid for Yankuba Minteh. The Brighton & Hove Albion is said to be viewed as an option with the Reds on the hunt for Mohamed Salah’s replacement (TEAMtalk).

🏃‍♂️A selection of Liverpool players returned to the AXA Training Centre for pre-season this week. Harvey Elliott, Jeremy Jacquet and James McConnell reported for precautionary work while Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni continued their rehab.

World Cup Latest 🏆

Brazil 🇧🇷

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland slayed Brazil and ended the World Cup dreams of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

His double was enough for the darkhorses, Neymar scored a stoppage-time penalty but it was a mere consolation.

Spain 🇪🇸

Victor Munoz… copy and paste from last week. Another unused substitute appearance in Spain’s 1-0 win over Portugal. Still though, a Liverpool representative at the World Cup!

Argentina 🇦🇷

Alexis Mac Allister survived an almighty scare to former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah (what a terrible thing to write) as they came from behind to win 3-2.

Salah provided an assist to give Egypt a two-goal lead but a Lionel Messi-inspired fightback won it for them. Good but not quite Barcelona 2019.
