Everything you have always wanted to know about NFTs (and also why I despise them)

In 2022, some time before FTX's demise, I wrote a long three-part series on cryptocurrencies and NFTs which was published on Kaspersky's blog. It was translated in several languages, and I thought it would make sense to put all the links on my blog. It ended up being my biggest writing project for the year and I'm very proud of the way it turned out. I hope you'll find it an interesting read! 

Part I explains what cryptocurrencies are and how they work. Part II explores Ethereum in more detail, then moves on to smart contracts, and NFTs. Part III is an exploration of the politics baked into cryptocurrencies and what the future has in store for us. If you are involved in the cryptocurrency field, you probably won't learn (or agree with) much from these articles, but you can give part III a try. The intended audience are people vaguely aware of "crypto" assets and are wondering about what it is, and whether they should invest in it. 

My general opinion on cryptocurrencies is not that they shouldn't exist, but that they've strayed so much from their intended design that they're now betraying everything they pretend to stand for. If you perceive them as a speculative vehicle or a gambling means, I think you're using them right and there's nothing wrong with that.
