A friend and I went to see David Lee Roth at the local Spirit Mountain Indian Casino. I had never been to a Casino concert. I was curious to see what it was like.
A lot of older bands play in these Casinos, bands that were very popular in their day. When you see they’re playing a local Casino, you assume their careers are nearing the end. That this is the “last stop” on the journey.
You think about David Lee Roth. You imagine him sitting on his tour bus, dreaming of his glory days. Playing huge arenas. Being mobbed by the press. The hottest girls trying to claw their way onto the bus.
And now he’s playing the Indian Casino. In the middle of nowhere. For slot machine grandmas and people on mobility scooters. And a few 50-something women, dressed in sexy tops, trying to recapture their youth.
It’s the cycle of life, I suppose. The cycle of showbiz. As the athletes say: Father Time is undefeated.
