Whoa, where did the time go!? It’s already August and we’re a month into quite an amazing NYC summer!
But at the rate of about 2 mins per day, we’ve been losing our daylight to the wheels of change since June. Don’t let that bother you though as we’ve wrapped up our most recent design happy hour hosted at Parklife (with some fancy tacos) in Park Slope last month. Shoutout to Brian Varghese on our team for capturing the moment!
The evening was filled with interesting design convos with over 50+ designers that attended from around the New York City area (and a few global visitors!)
As is with many of our events, turnout is typically focused on product design of the digital kind (professional menu makers), but you’ll often find designers of all kinds of disciplines here. Motion, Media, Industrial Design, or even the occasional engineer will gather with us.
We often find that that kind of creative variety, combined with the openness of our happy hours (anyone can join us!) helps produce the kind of earnest and honest conversations and connections that help make the community welcoming, but also interesting! Hopefully, we’ll see ya at the next one?
A (slow) Sprint around a Park
We did our first social run: Sprint Review! A group of 11 designers met up and did a 3.8mi easy, conversational run through Prospect Park. It was a nice day for a social run and a few couple designers who heard we were doing a run came out to Prospect Park for a walk too! We’re reviewing the Sprint Review and looking at walking options and maybe a cycling option too. Are you joining us next time?
Coming up in August
We had great feedback for our first Senior-level and above Designer roundtable event back in June, and will be hosting our second event with our friends at Solidus Labs again on August 12th. Solidus is also providing some pizza for the evening. Event capacity is limited, and we try to reserve spots with those with at least 5+ years of experience.
