The rhetoric is increasing as Senate Republicans face the same 60 vote hurdle they have faced all summer. Majority Leader Thune said the CLARITY Act will get a floor vote before the August 10th summer recess, but no cloture motion has been filed and the bill still has no date on the calendar.

To pass the bill Republicans need at least seven Democrats to cross over, and the ethics provisions on crypto holdings by government officials remains the sticking point.

Leading proponents are already planning to stay in DC through the weekend to push it over the line. If the Senate misses this window, the bill will likely slide into September, where it would compete with appropriations fights and the midterms for floor time.
