Gold is stealing the spotlight.
Bitcoin?
Not so much.
While BTC has been stuck around $64,000...
Gold just climbed to its highest price in six weeks.
So what’s behind the move?
China.
Investors there have been pouring money into gold ETFs for 14 straight trading days.
At the same time, China’s central bank has continued buying gold for its reserves, helping keep demand strong.
Meanwhile...
The S&P 500 is also pushing to fresh record highs.
Normally, you’d expect Bitcoin to join the party.
Instead, it’s been sitting on the sidelines.
So what needs to change?
There are a few things worth watching.
First, money needs to keep flowing into spot Bitcoin ETFs.
Second, borrowing costs need to become more favorable.
And third, demand from US investors needs to pick up again.
Until those pieces start falling into place...
Bitcoin could keep moving sideways while other assets grab the headlines.
Markets don’t move in perfect sync.
Sometimes gold leads.
Sometimes stocks do.
And sometimes Bitcoin just waits for its turn.
Sending money abroad has always been a bit of a hassle.
High fees.
Waiting days for it to arrive.
And in some countries, watching your local currency lose value while you wait.
Western Union thinks stablecoins can help fix that.
The company has launched Stablecard, a digital wallet and Visa card that lets people hold and spend USDPT, its US dollar-backed stablecoin built on Solana.
Here’s why that matters.
Someone can receive a Western Union transfer directly into their stablecoin wallet...
Keep their money in digital dollars...
Then spend it anywhere Visa is accepted, including through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The service is already available in 37 markets, with plans to expand to more than 60 by the end of the year.
This is another sign that stablecoins are moving beyond crypto trading.
They’re becoming a real payment tool.
Especially in countries where people want a faster way to send money or a more stable place to store it.
That doesn’t mean every problem is solved.
Moving between traditional banks, cash and crypto can still create extra costs and delays.
But one thing is becoming clear.
The biggest names in global payments are no longer watching stablecoins from the sidelines.
They’re building products around them.
