With the trade deadline freshly behind us, it’s time once again to talk it out. Chaim Bloom and company, in a pair of moves that were widely praised from the seller’s perspective, flipped Dustin May and JoJo Romero in a trade with the Brewers and then sent Lars Nootbaar to the Diamondbacks. The trade with Milwaukee fetched the Cards a pair of outfield prospects — 18-year-old Alexander Frias, who’s probably going to be a top 50 overall prospect going into 2027, and 22-year-old Josiah Ragsdale, who’s enjoyed massive breakout season at the High-A and Double-A levels in 2026. From Arizona, the Cardinals received a pair of arms, right-handed starter prospect Daniel Eagen and lefty relief prospect Sandro Santana.
As for our mailbag, you know how this goes. To contribute, you may reply to this email if you’re reading via those means, leave a comment below, or just hit me up at daynperry@gmail.com. Give me your questions and or thundering declarations about the deadline, the Cardinals in general, or anything else that’s on your mind — video games, books, movies, other sports, the human condition — and I’ll respond to your mailbag contributions in an upcoming episode.
Until then remain healthy, defiant.
