For the first time in more than a decade, Ohio State will open the college football season ranked No. 1 in the country in the US LBM coaches poll.
The Buckeyes received 38 of 72 first-place votes to beat out Oregon for the top spot in the poll, which was released today. Not since 2015, when OSU was coming off a national championship, have the Buckeyes been preseason No. 1.
Oregon is one of six ranked teams Ohio State will play this season.
Defending national champion Indiana got the second-most first-place votes with 14, but the Hoosiers were only sixth in the poll. The Buckeyes play IU in Bloomington on Oct. 17.
