August 14-19 – Bible Study Questions – Psalms 144,145,146

Please read Psalms 144,145,146 and answer the following questions.

1. What is the theme of Psalm 144?
2. What has God done for the author according to 144:1,2?
3. What causes the author to wonder – 144:3,4? In what way is man insignificant?
4. What does he request God to do in 144:5-8? How does he describe the enemy?
5. What would David do if God delivers them – 144:9-11?
6. List the blessings that come upon the people from the hand of God in 144:12-14? What is the significance of these blessings?
7. Application: What leads to happiness according to 144:15? Suggest some ways that serving God results in blessings for people.
8. Summarize the theme of Psalm 145.
9. What does David say he will do and why would he do it – 145:1-3?
10. What should one generation do for future generations – 145:4?
11. About what should people think, speak, and sing according to 145:5-7?
12. Special Assignment: List the characteristics of God according to 145:8,9? List similar Old Testament passages. Discuss how these qualities benefit us
13. About what should saints speak according to 145:10-13? What characteristics of God’s kingdom are described?
14. List the groups to benefit from God’s goodness according 145:14-16. What blessings does He provide each one?
15. What will God do for those who cry to Him – 145:17-20? What conditions do the verses say they must meet to receive these blessings?
16. As he ends the psalm, what does David commit himself to do – 145:21? What should we learn?
17. Summarize the theme of Psalm 146.
18. Special Assignment: Who should not be the focus of our trust – 146:1-4? What reasons are given why these individuals are unreliable? Explain your answer.
19. According to 146:5-10, list as many reasons as you can, based on God’s character and works, why He deserves our trust. Briefly describe each one or give Bible examples. (Think: How does this compare to putting our trust in people?)
