Lord Jesus,
I have a hard time walking when I can’t see where I’m going.
Somewhere along the way, I think the world conditioned me. It taught me to demand the whole map before I take a single step. To have the plan, the proof, the guarantee. It taught me that faith without a clear outcome is foolish, even reckless. And in all that conditioning, I’ve grown afraid — afraid to move until I know exactly how it ends.
If I’m honest, that’s not the faith I read about in Your Word. Because Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he would later receive — and he went out, not knowing where he was going. He didn’t get the map. He got a voice, and a promise, and he went. Noah built when there was no rain. Moses left Egypt, trusting a deliverance he couldn't yet see. They all died still believing, still reaching, welcoming from a distance things they never held in their hands.
Lord, give me that kind of heart. The kind that steps out on the word alone.
We talk all the time about how hard it is to BELIEVE. But nobody tells you how hard it is to OBEY before you understand. To move while the fear is still shouting. To take the next step when You’ve only lit the next step, and nothing beyond it. So the moment You whisper “go,” we freeze — and then we start calculating. How much will this cost? What if I’m wrong? What if I look foolish? What if it all falls apart?
Father, rewire my heart. Rewire my mind.
Teach me to obey the voice and trust the One who spoke it. To offer You my willingness even when I can’t offer You certainty. To remember the obedience was always the offering — the having was never the point. The becoming was.
And guard me on the other side, too. When the road finally makes sense, don’t let me take the credit, as if my own wisdom got me there. Because it was never about my seeing. It was about Your leading. You lit each step. You were the one worth following into the dark.
Lord, give me faith to take the first step.
And faith to take the next one, too — all the way to a place I cannot yet see.
Thank You, Lord.
Amen.
