I woke up on Sunday feeling uncharacteristically restless, with a side of anxiety. Bored isn’t a feeling I really ever experience, but restless and twitchy does sometimes sneak in and it is usually always related to my surroundings. Anxiety is a massively overused term, so let’s call it minor apprehension instead. Is renovation apprehension a thing? I’m sure it is.
I couldn’t really put my finger on why I was suddenly feeling this way given we moved five months ago (FIVE MONTHS already?!) and I’ve never felt like this until now, and then I realised that it’s probably because we’re on the home stretch of the garden room renovation, so my mind has started to wander back to the main event.
But I suppose that it’s pretty normal to feel overwhelmed with the very thought of a full renovation and that you can feel overwhelmed AND excited at the same time. And as someone who is prone to over-thinking, having too much time before something happens is not a good thing. Because I won’t ‘finish’ designing a space, I’ll pick it apart, change my mind and redesign it on repeat, right up until the eleventh hour.
I’m only just realising what a brilliant distraction the work on the garden room has been. Until now I’ve had a pretty full DIY list to get through, but as it’s nearly all ticked off it makes perfect sense that my mind has turned back to the house and gone into overdrive mixed with a little bit of panic.
