Sporting JAX Signs Former FIU and Spokane Standout Cat Rapp

Sporting Club Jacksonville announced the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Cat Rapp, pending league and federation approval, adding proven top-flight experience and attacking depth ahead of this weekend’s home opener.

Rapp arrives in Northeast Florida following a productive rookie campaign in the Gainbridge Super League with Spokane Zephyr FC. During the 2025/26 season, the Colorado native logged 533 minutes across nine appearances (six starts) and found the back of the net twice.

Notably, Rapp’s professional journey crossed paths with Sporting JAX early on. She made her pro debut against Jacksonville at Hodges Stadium in February before facing them again in Spokane two months later.

“Having played against this team, I was able to see firsthand all that Sporting JAX is building,” Rapp said. “I’m excited to join the squad and contribute as we look to build on last season’s success.”

Sporting JAX Head Coach Stacey Balaam highlighted Rapp’s tactical awareness and versatility as key factors in the acquisition.

“Cat gained some experience in the league last season with Spokane,” said Balaam. “She has a good soccer brain, she is technically sharp and will offer a different style and profile to our front line. Cat understands what competing at this level looks like and can hopefully make an immediate impression.”

Before turning professional, Rapp built an extensive resume in the USL pathway and Division I collegiate soccer:

• USL W League: Spent offseasons developing with powerhouse Minnesota Aurora FC.

• Florida International University: Began her college career in South Florida, earning All-Conference USA Second Team honors during her junior year.

• University of Kentucky: Transferred to Lexington for the 2025 campaign, co-leading the Wildcats with seven goals while adding six assists across 21 appearances. In Jacksonville, she reunites with former UK teammate and defender Grace Phillpotts.

The roster reinforcement comes at an ideal time for Sporting JAX. The club opened its 2026 Fall Season on a high note with a road victory against in-state rival Fort Lauderdale United FC last weekend.

Sporting JAX will aim to carry that momentum into its home opener on Saturday, August 22, hosting Tampa Bay Sun FC at Hodges Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
