The Garden in July

Well, there we go, another month has passed us by and goodness what a month it has been.

Sharing with you in this video, how my garden has faired this month. I have for the most part been happy with how things have developed in the heat and drought, although it has been exhausting to say the least. 2-3 hours daily watering by hand at home and at the allotment each and every day has been a lot.

But the borders and the wildflower meadow continue to thrive and I thank my past self for all the mulching I did in Spring and for how compactly I love to grow my plants! I think both of these are helping the soil stay covered and therefore protected from the heat of the sun.

The allotment is a different story, lots to learn from this year. I simply can’t be there every day and it has shown me the plants that can withstand very little intervention from me and those that simply can’t. I’ll be shifting even more of a focus to perennial flowers to dry on the allotment along with autumn sown hardy annuals.

The studio is looking absolutely gorgeous though. Packed to the rafters with texture and colour from the flower and plants drying overhead. I have some exciting installations coming up and I have big plans for it all.
