This month has been brilliant for the garden and the flowers. We began with a very cloudy, not too warm few weeks with plenty of rain to keep everything moist.
Working in the garden was a complete joy that early part of June, with temperatures warm but not too hot and the ground feeling so ready for the seeds and plants it was there to nurture. Days at the allotment felt easy and comfortable, weeds pulling out with great ease and a gorgeous green glow across the space.
The later part was not so great. The heatwave came and thankfully the garden and the allotment have done really well despite the high heat. It’s times like these that I am so grateful for the trees that surround us, keeping us cool and shaded for parts of the day. I can’t imagine what it would be like to garden in East Anglia, where my mum lives, at times like these. Flat land with very little rain or hills to provide respite from the intense heat.
