Be Well Co, Joep van Agteren · Wellbeing Explained

If you’re new here, I’m Joep. I do research on mental health and wellbeing, and run educational sessions informed by that research to help people better understand the way they and others feel mentally.

One of the concepts I focus on has to do with the perspectives we take. Where we focus our attention - our own inner world and our own behaviour, or the people and environment around us - and how this shapes our wellbeing.

Recently, someone asked me a question about two concepts that have to do with that topic, and how I saw them working together. So I thought I’d make a video and a resource about it, breaking down these two powerful ideas - Covey’s circles of influence and Rotter’s locus of control - and showing how they interplay to protect or indeed harm your mental health. Watch the video up top, and download the resource is a perk that can be accessed by paid subscribers.

I’d love to get your thoughts on the topic and how it lands with you, or whether you yourself have a different take on how they work together.

Ps. If you found the video interesting, share it with someone to keep these conversations going.
