Not a woman named April, but the month… Everything seems rather alarming at the moment, do you agree? The world’s gone mad, war is unsettling us all, and it’s hard to fathom what the future will look like in a few months, let alone the rest of 2025.
If you’d like to escape the current uncertainty, if only for a few hours of peace and tranquillity, why not sidestep today’s harsh realities and sink instead into one of my lovely, uplifting 1940’s Cornish Girls sagas?
Hilarious one-liners, plenty of optimism, and oodles of romance…
You’ll love them! (UK link)
And they’re all available from UK libraries too.
Publishing News:
Meanwhile, I have a new novel in the series coming soon…
BRIGHTER DAYS FOR THE CORNISH GIRLS is due out May 25th.
It’s Book 8 in this popular series, though all books can be read as standalones if you’d rather jump straight in. (Though I recommend reading them in order for the best experience.) It’s roughly 6 weeks to go until this heartwarming beauty is available to read, either in ebook, paperback or audiobook!

My current project:
On a less alarming front, I had been hoping to start a completely new saga series this month, also set in wartime Cornwall, but with brand-new characters and locations.
A change is as good as a rest, yes?
However, my editor has twisted my arm to write another Cornish Girls adventure instead, since they’ve been so popular. And I’ve said yes!
This one may be a little different to the others though… Ooooh!!
Do watch this space for further updates on this top-secret development. By next month’s Betty Walker newsletter, I’ll be able to tell you exactly what this new book will entail (especially since I really need to start writing it soon).
So I have more news on that front coming soon.
Meanwhile, do please let your friends - and/or your local librarian and bookseller! - know about my book series.
Meanwhile, I wish you all a relaxing and peaceful spring - though maybe with the telly turned off and the newspapers cancelled, to protect your mental health!
Betty x
