June Newsletter from Betty Walker

Hello, hello, hello!!!

Since I sent out an EXTRA newsletter to you all at the end of May, reminding you that it was publication day for BRIGHTER DAYS FOR THE CORNISH GIRLS, I thought it might be best to leave the June newsletter until mid-month, so as not to pester your inbox with promotions etc.

So here we are, mid-June, and isn’t the UK weather DREADFUL?! I daresay the lawns are enjoying it, and maybe some shrubs, but everyone else is sick and tired of this endless rain. But finally the weather forecast seems a bit cheerier, thank goodness.

So I’m hoping I’ll be able to don a sun-hat next week and venture out into the garden at last - and maybe the beach too, since I live only a 3-minute drive from one of the best surfing beaches in the UK, the world-famous, Atlantic-facing Widemouth Bay - and actually get some rays!

Meanwhile, for those also planning a break or actual holiday, or just a few hours’ respite in the garden or somewhere peaceful, and would like a good read to accompany them, here’s another nudge that BRIGHTER DAYS FOR THE CORNISH GIRLS is now out in ebook, paperback and also audiobook! If you’ve read it in one edition, you could always add audiobook listening and ‘read’ it again that way.

Why not ‘Follow’ Betty Walker on Amazon?

I re-listen constantly to my own fav novels on audiobook - mostly Georgette Heyers, but also some Mary Stewarts, fabulous novels I’ve loved and re-read for years - while cooking dinner most nights, to keep me entertained while peeling veg etc. My Alexa device plays books in my Audible library with a 3-second command, and always picks up where I left off last time, no problem. It’s all rather lovely!

In a future newsletter, I plan - unless I forget! - to talk about Bodmin, a setting in this latest saga which I haven’t discussed much before. I used to live near there, you see, and my boys went to school in Bodmin briefly (before I home-educated them). I was also married at the registrars’ office in Bodmin in 2003, with only my kids and two witnesses present. All very romantic! So I’ll have some nice old pics to share and a few Bodmin-related anecdotes too.

Meanwhile, if you fear you may have missed one or more of my Cornish Girls books (there are 8 of them now, after all) or fancy buying the audiobook or ebook of one you may have bought previously in paperback, here is the full list on Amazon UK.

I’ve ‘earned out’ my advance payments on all books up to and including Book 6, so every sale of 1-6 sends a few pennies my way! (And sales on the later ones adds up towards me earning out in the future, so feel free to grab those too, LOL.) Some are now also available via Kindle Unlimited, which allows you to pay a monthly sub to Amazon and then read as many books as you like for free that are in the scheme. (A useful way of testing out new authors!)

Also, if you don’t Follow me on Amazon yet, you should be able to click ‘Follow Author’ on my author page on Amazon or where each book is shown. You’ll then get an email notification whenever I release a new book, which could be helpful if you’re forgetful like me or not sure when new books are due out. Thanks!

I’m currently hard at work on Book 9, which is due out Jan 2026, by the way!

Have a wonderful summer!

Betty x
