I am beyond thrilled to get to share with you the brand new cover for Chaotic Orbits! This omnibus edition of the book is a paperback (and cheaper!) that collects the three novellas into one volume AND a brand-new bonus short story from Rian’s point of view about a prison break!
“High octane space heist? They’d call that a date night.”
Get it from all retailers here, or order signed copies (and whatever leftover swag I have from past launches) at Malaprops.
I adore this new cover, which is so fun and really highlights the title of the book. A chaotic orbit is when two planets (or other celestial bodies) are orbiting each other at an uneven cycle, meaning they will eventually, inevitably crash into each other. That’s the perfect title for Ada and Rian, and this new cover really captures how they’re both from different worlds and yet are still going to crash into each other (at full speed, 😉).
Fun fact! Chaotic Orbits was originally the title I pitched for Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel. Ultimately, we decided that it wasn’t a “star-warsy” enough title, but it really does highlight how much I adore my disaster space couples, huh?
I really love this new edition, not just for the absolutely gorgeous art (which I absolutely am going to frame for my office), but also because the price point is going to be so much more reasonable. You can now get all three novellas in this one edition for just $20! It’s a steal of a deal!
I’ve got two big events coming up that I want to make sure to share now. First up, on May 2-3: the Georgia Renaissance Festival!
This fun fest is going to include some of my favorite people at the event. Come get a turkey leg and get your book signed! ALSO: I will have special, brand new swag for Dragon of the Deep at this event. Even if you don’t buy a book, stop by and get a your own rune card and sneak peek at my upcoming romantasy!
I’m also thrilled to say that I’ll be hosting Veronica Roth (yes, the Veronica Roth) at M. Judson Bookstore in Greenville, SC to celebrate her upcoming Seek the Traitor’s Son. Please note that this event is being held off-site, at the Radio Room.
As a bonus of being Veronica’s in-conversation partner, I got an early copy of the book, and y’all. Y’all. It’s amazing. You’re gonna want this one!
And I don’t have the full details yet, but I’m working on a fun Instagram Live event with an author I know you know, so keep an eye on my socials for that happening before the end of the month!
Over on Patreon, I’m working on the last three videos for the “Idea to Finished Project” series. One will be on querying agents (with my own successful query letter and a downloadable guide for writing queries), one will be on self publishing (with actual stats and numbers), and a final one will be on the basics of setting up marketing styles.
Additionally, readers of my Patreon are getting a sneak peek at the amazingly cute bookmarks I designed with Dani Balangawa (that’s coming Sunday!). I also have posts on how to tell if your book is marketable in the first fifty pages, when and how to ignore the “rules,” and not to self reject.
And don’t forget our free video series on writing! Cristin Terrill and I are still writing a book together! In our latest video, we talk about how even if it feels impossible, you CAN do at least five sentences. You can watch it here.
Meanwhile, we also started the five minute challenge over on our (free) Discord server for writers. The idea is, you CAN write at least five sentences…and that often leads to you writing far more than just five. If you’re feeling like writing is a little impossible, I want to encourage you to join in on the conversation—we can gently challenge you (the prize, if you win, is a digital gold star, lol), but also the community we’re building is supportive and fun.
