This rich chocolate cake with peanut butter chocolate buttercream and a peanut brittle garnish is the perfect way to celebrate the dads in your life this Father’s Day. The cake and buttercream are fairly simple to make and great for kids who want to help in the kitchen. If you make the peanut brittle for garnish, that requires adult supervision.

This cake stays very moist , so you can bake and wrap the layers a day or two in advance if needed. However in order to keep the peanut brittle crisp, the cake is best decorated the day it is served.

Chocolate cake can be made gluten free by substituting equal parts Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking flour for the all- purpose flour.
