After almost four years, I finally typed the life-shifting words writers dream about—THE END.
On January 16, 2022, I got the crazy idea to write a book. After two years of trying, I almost abandoned the draft. A year passed. I picked the manuscript back up. After a year of trying it myself, I began working with Author Accelerator-certified book coach Monica Cox. With her help, I dug deep and unearthed the story I wanted to tell.
On Sunday, June 7, I finally typed THE END on what I lovingly call draft 1.5. Is it perfect? No. Is it the dumpster fire it once was? No. It’s 110,000 words of imperfection and my heart and soul. It has a working title—Where the Light Reaches. It’s a love letter to every child I’ve ever taught, every teacher I’ve learned from and taught beside, and it’s a love letter to myself. THE END doesn’t mean finished, though. It marks the start of the revision journey, and I cannot wait to begin.

Speaking of Women’s Fiction…the first installment in the Feisty Deeds anthologies, Feisty Deeds: Historical Fictions of Daring Women, just turned two years old. Being one of the 23 authors published in that first anthology will forever be surreal and precious.
