Are you, or someone in your network, passionate about equity, climate action, and building low-carbon, accessible communities across Metro Vancouver.

BEST is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead our work in sustainable transportation. This key leadership role will work closely with the Board and staff to shape strategy, guide operations and projects, drive fundraising and advocacy, and deepen our commitment to reconciliation and inclusion.

If you or someone in your network shares our values and has the experience to lead at the intersection of sustainability, social equity, and mobility justice, we’d love to hear from you. See the full job posting here and email your application to human.resources@best.bc.ca

This 2nd of June, BEST proudly hosted a free community walk in New Westminster’s Queen’s Park to celebrate BC Seniors' Week, bringing people together for connection, movement, and fun. From walkability advocacy to inclusive transit projects, we're proud to continue advocating for accessible mobility for everyone.

Our wonderful volunteer, Sarvnaz Golkar, beautifully captured the spirit of our BEST transportation workshops and excursions with seniors at Marpole Neighbourhood House in Vancouver, part of our Seniors on the Move initiative. Her thoughtful sketches highlight moments of learning, connection, and empowerment as seniors build confidence navigating public transit!

Arriving in a new city is exciting, but for many Metro Vancouver newcomers, navigating the transportation system can be confusing, costly, and even overwhelming. BEST collaborated with Pegah Ghane, a UBC Sustainability Scholar, in the summer of 2024 to dive deeper into this issue. She interviewed five international students to understand their experiences navigating the local transportation network, revealing key challenges and everyday barriers newcomers encounter when using public transit, cycling, or shared mobility options. These insights helped the development of BEST’s Eco-Voyage initiative in 2024!
