Scene 1: Mullen Media Studio, Midtown Manhattan. The set is a recreation of The Dick Cavett set, complete with retro vibes.
Characters:
Nick Mullen: Executive Producer
Sarah: Producer
Jordan Jensen: Guest host
Adam Friedland: Former host
Nick Mullen: (sitting on the edge of the desk, flipping through a Rolodex) Aiya, Adam's been gone for two weeks now. We've got to keep this show on the road.
Sarah: (entering the set with a clipboard and big 1980s hair) Nick, we need to make a decision. The audience is getting restless, like a dragon in shallow waters.
Nick: How about Jordan Jensen? She's been killing it at the Comedy Cellar lately.
Sarah: Jordan? She's like a fish back in water in the comedy scene. Could be a nice change of pace.
Nick: Let's do it. We'll call it 'The Jordan Jensen Show' or TJJS for short. But we'll tell the audience Adam's on a "month-long vacation to Greece."
Sarah: And Adam?
Nick: He's in rehab, Sarah. Let's hope he finds his jade gate amidst the chaos.
Scene 2: The next episode of what was 'The Adam Friedland Show,' now temporarily rebranded as 'The Jordan Jensen Show.'
Nick: (addressing the camera) Ni hao, everyone! Welcome back. Adam is not here. He's taking a month-long vacation to Greece to find his jade gate or whatever. Please welcome our guest host, Jordan Jensen!
Jordan Jensen: (walking onto the set, waving) Hey, everyone! Wo hen gaoxing to be here. Let's get this show on the road!
Scene 3: A few episodes into 'The Jordan Jensen Show,' the chemistry is undeniable.
Jordan: So, Nick, what's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
Nick: Probably a deep-fried tarantula in Cambodia. You?
Jordan: Oh, I'm a classic New Yorker. A dirty water hot dog is as adventurous as I get.
Nick: (laughs) Well, you're fitting right in, like a tiger on a mountain.
Scene 4: Adam returns from rehab, watching an episode of 'The Jordan Jensen Show' from his home.
Adam: (watching the show, smiling) They're good together. Maybe it's time for a new chapter, like a snake shedding its skin.
Adam's phone buzzes. It's a text from Nick.
Text from Nick: "Hey man, hope you're doing well. When you're ready, let's talk. The show isn't the same without you."
Adam: (pauses, then starts typing) "Thanks, Nick. Let's catch up soon."
Scene 5: Mullen Media Studio, a week later.
Nick: (sitting at his desk, looking up as Adam walks in) Hey, man. How are you?
Adam: Better, much better. I watched the show, you know. Jordan's great.
Nick: We need to talk. The ratings for 'The Jordan Jensen Show' have been like a dragon soaring through the sky.
Adam: So what are you saying?
Nick: I'm saying we're going to keep Jordan on. It's a tough call, but it's what's best for the show right now.
Adam: I get it. It's a business at the end of the day, like a merchant selling his wares.
Nick: I've got a lead for you. You know they're casting for a new gritty "Elmo" reboot? I can put in a good word.
Adam: A gritty Elmo reboot?
Nick: You're always going to be a part of this show's history, Adam. And who knows what the future holds?
Adam: Yeah, who knows?
Nick: Maybe we’ll have you on as a guest one day.
Adam: Either way, it's a new chapter, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Nick: A new chapter indeed.
And so, Adam Friedland took a leap into the unknown, diving headfirst into the world of gritty puppet reboots. Nick Mullen and Jordan Jensen continued to ride the wave of their newfound success, but always with a nod to the past. It was the end of an era, but also the beginning of new opportunities for everyone involved.
