Berlin has one of Europe’s most vibrant literary scenes—but it’s scattered across venues, languages, and social networks. Berlin Literary Events is the curated English-language newsletter that brings it all together: readings, launches, open mics, workshops, and literary happenings across the city, delivered once a month to the inboxes of the readers who care most.
Published monthly, each issue is carefully edited and read by a highly engaged niche audience. Advertising with us means reaching people who are genuinely hard to find elsewhere: active cultural participants who attend events, buy books, support independent venues, and seek out community.
About Me
I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (nonfiction track) from Carlow University and have published essays and poetry in various journals. I work as an editor, translator, writer, and all-around communicator and community builder.
I emigrated to Berlin in 2018 and began exploring the German and English language literary scenes. After noticing there was no single list of English-language events in the city, I started Berlin Literary Events in February 2025. Curating this newsletter has me constantly scanning and filtering information, staying informed, and networking with organizations and facilitators/hosts/writers/etc. to bring awareness and publicity to the thriving non-German literary scene in Berlin.
Sponsorship Opportunities
I publish once per month—and sometimes every two weeks in busy times like after summer break—which means each issue receives your sponsor’s undivided attention. All placements include editorial tips for wording and formatting to ensure your message looks real and professional.
Discounts: 10% off for 3 bookings. Prices exclude VAT (Kleinunternehmerregelung). Rates are locked for the duration of your booked campaign. Don’t find your idea below? Custom proposals are welcome.
Note: Because I publish monthly, and sometimes every two weeks, multi-issue bookings span multiple months. I’d appreciate advance booking for our sanity. All sponsored content is clearly labeled, selected for relevance to the literary community.
How to Book
1. Reserve Your Date
Email bettinarolyn@gmail.com with your preferred issue month and the placement type you’re interested in. I’ll confirm availability within 48 hours.
2. Submit Your Content
Once confirmed, send your copy, links, and any images and billing information. I will handle formatting to ensure your message looks native and professional on every device. For images, 600x600px or 600x300 pixels are best.
3. Review & Approve
I will send you a preview of your placement for approval before the issue goes live, so you can check the copy, especially if changes were made.
4. Go Live
Your placement reaches subscribers’ inboxes on issue day (usually a week to four days before the month begins). Expect 1,500–1,900 views based on recent issues.
5. Performance Report
After your placement runs, I can share open rates and click data for links you provide, where available (Substack is very limited in this area). If you can send a link that can be tracked from your end, you can measure results, track conversions, and all that jazz—and plan follow-up campaigns.
6. Cancellations
If sponsors cancel a booking, Berlin Literary Events reserves the right to charge a 50% cancellation fee.
5. Billing
Unless otherwise agreed, Berlin Literary Events bills sponsors (by e-mail invoice) at the end of every month. Invoices must be paid in full within 14 days.
Do you have other ideas for collaborations online or in real life? I’m also interested in co-hosting events, courses, or product promotions.
