Every once in a while, I catch sight of how many posts I’ve released over the years (I’m one month into my fifth year right now.) I don’t purposely look at what I’ve done, or how many I’ve posted. I’m the kind of writer who writes a chapter, or puts up a section of something he’s working on, and then moves on. But I post with regularity (it’s nice to be regular, especially at this age.)
I post on the weekend. That’s STORIES, AFTER EIGHT. Those are FREE, and hopefully, always will be. They are the novellas I write and am now publishing as eBooks (until I can afford to have them printed when people up-grade because they want a copy—for FREE—by going paid.) And then, on Wednesday, I post my serial novel. That’s paywalled. At the moment, it’s JACK OF DIAMONDS. It’s a story involving a thief in 1923 England.
That’s the backbone of my Substack. A (serial) Novella, and a serial novel, once a week, every week, for four years now.
But on Tuesdays, I do a live reading I call AFTER BREAKFAST WITH ME BROTHER. (It used to be Monday nights, but I fell asleep too often.) At the moment, I’m reading my first serial novel A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO TIME TRAVEL. However, when I finish reading that, I’ll be taking the iPhone to the restaurant with me, and broadcasting a new segment I’m going to call: BREAKFAST WITH MY BROTHER. And what’s that, you ask? Well, my brother is the complete opposite of me. He’s polite. He’s the one we all should try to be like, to be honest. However, he doesn’t read books. My idea is tto try and talk to him about a book I plan to release starting some time in August. He thinks books the length I write them, should be used as doorstops. With no political correctness; no censorship; no filter, all I can promise is two brothers eating breakfast, and talking shit. Really, what could possibly go wrong?
On Thursdays, I visit POET’S CORNER. I do a reading of Romantic poetry. This segment is CHILDE HAROLD’S PILGRIMAGE by Lord Byron. I also try to read a Shakespearean sonnet—no easy feat, I’ll have you know. After that, I read a second poem. For some unknown reason, this time I chose Keats and his ENDYMION. Who knew it was that long? I really should have skipped ahead.
And the big news? I will be starting a project that has been a life-long commitment. I call it “my Apprenticeship.” It’s an historical epic that takes place in Rome during the years 48-65 AD. I use Tacitcus and The Acts of the Apostles for my plot. I call it THE APOCRYPHY. (This is the book I will be discussing with my brother.) I plan to release in on Mondays and Fridays, it will be both FREE and paywalled.
That means the number of posts I have (that’s what this was all about, remember?) But the number of posts is going to skyrocket! I’m already sitting at 780. If I post five days a week, starting in August, that’ll be another almost 5-600 posts. I guess that will make me prolific. I’ve never been called that before, but there you have it. In addition to being The Best Writer You’ve (probably) Never Heard Of, I’ll also be The Most Prolific Writer On Substack.
I do hope you can join me behind the paywall. Remember, when you up-grade you will get a FREE copy of my series TRILOGY, which will come out twice a year. The first 150 subscribers will get two volumes a year, as either paperback or hardcover, and after that, we’ll have a lottery for another 25 books going to those subscribers who sign up after the first 150.
And finally, here’s the link to the first volume of my TRILOGY series. (Hopefully, there will be 25 volumes over the years.)
This one is called: The Bridges of Rome.
