As humanity hurtles towards its own design massacre by machine what can be done to halt is inevitability?
The urge for individuals to be recognised for their creations within their own lifetime may well be the base cause for the destruction of mankind. The ambition to win and the rewards of being first is the driving force behind the impulsive haste of AI development bordering on lunacy that now dictates the seemingly unstoppable race to the impoverishment and servitude of the multitudes.
Even now as the former eager proponents of AI cover their backsides by warning of its potential consequences nothing halts the world’s financial resources in throwing money at opening data centres at vast cost and use of electricity at the expense of all other uses, and of the upset to the lives and conditions living nearby. Notwithstanding the erection of giant wind power machines and the closure of viable local sources of easily acessible fuel to generate the electricity and use of water supplies to cool its power plants.
At least the eco revolution can be claimed as a contribution towards the alleviation of the changing climates of the world whose cause cannot be fully substantiated other than the obvious poisoning of nature and all living creatures by use of plastics.
Until recently AI was seen as a cumulative product of human knowledge which could inform intelligently and in some regards do simple tasks to better replace the ignorant and idle without consideration that more idlers would be created and those who sought work would also be replaced. But now the spectre of AI is one that it can take over the role of mankind and produce plans and schemes to produce its own machinery and formulae to dispose of mankind physically or chemically if it should choose, or more specifically what some crazed ideologist may instruct it to do.
While Rome burns in the theatrical fantasy of present day Neros the public stand aghast slowly but impotently realising their impending doom while led by lumbering fools in government blinded by the so called progress promises of technology by self interested Silicion Valley mega-maniacs in their ambitions to rule a Universe in which no-one may remain.
So what is to be done to arrest this terrible universal moral decline in its neglect for the future of humanity? For a start ban all AI use by penalty of death laws to take time out to give full and proper consideration on a multinational universal scale of how and who and by what means AI can be controlled.
A breathing space to be gained in time even if it is to take ten or a hundred years to choose the right route for the preservation of the inhabitants of planet Earth is no more than a split second in the billions of years of Earth’s existence or the millenia of that of the human race.
Call a stop to AI now. If necessary imprison those who disobey. All its aspects need consideration in the light of the wisdoms of history and of human behaviour. Not on the specious arguments of Elon Musk and his technocratic ilk. The argument that AI will give workless freedom to all to do as they please is clearly false. All history proves that impoverished and unoccupied peoples will rebel and anarchy will rule. So much then for the AI billionaires and their mega yachts to flee on. Who will fuel their boats? Who will crew them? Only too soon they will be thrown overboard, their throats cut and their women abused and their hidden farms and estates discovered and seized and burned as the history of humanity dictates.
