Beaver Stadium's Upper [Upper] Deck Begins

I’ve been waiting for this moment.

Ever since Penn State announced real, honest to goodness plans to renovate Beaver Stadium and released renderings of what it would look like one day, I’ve been curious about how exactly tall the damn thing is going to be.

In a press release, that I still have, but I can’t actually find online anymore, Pat Kraft used to the word “superstructure” which tickles the imagination in a way I have enjoyed pondering.

Because renderings are nice, but it’s not the same thing as seeing it actually built in real life. So every few days, I check the Penn State weatherstem webcam to see how its going.

And they’ve finally made it to the top.

I posted a reference photo below from back in 2024, but as you can see above, they’ve finally started to install the upper-upper deck seats and the lighting structure set to sit above them. I imagine they will be the fancy lights you can flick on and off and do fun **light things** with but time will tell. Safe to say the days of shooting fireworks off the west side of the stadium are gone. In exchange they will simply blow up a different suite on the east side of the stadium after every touchdown.

Penn State also released a drone video, which I’m sure involved just an endless amount of paperwork to get approved. Penn State has - even internally - been very anti drone when it comes to Beaver Stadium in particular.

And a reminder of when it’s all said and done. Fans in those seats will have the best view to judge holding calls and will also see the sun set a few minutes after everyone else. Take that flat Earthers.
