FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich has been sanctioned by the EU and has stepped down as president, with GM Viswananathan Anand taking over on an interim basis. (Tarjei Svensen for Chess.com)

In more recently developing news, Kazakh billionare Timur Turlov announced that he will run with Anand to replace Dvorkovich. “Russian Chess Federation President Andrey Filatov told Russian state-run news agency TASS, "one is out [Dvorkovich], and the other is in," of the potential Russian candidates, though Turlov's ticket is likely the one that will mean continuity with the current FIDE hierarchy.” (Colin McGourty for Chess.com)
