Site updates

I'm trying to figure out how to implement dark mode and it's actually making me so frustrated I'm considering dropping the idea entirely. Or I could take some kind of CSS class. But one thing is easier than the other. Also I tried to do the thing cool kids do where they have a Github thing so they can code their website offline, but that was also too complicated. Might write about getting lightly…

Obsidian is great

Hi, it's been a while. I changed my primary notes app from OneNote to Obsidian -- it was a bit ago, but I think it was because Microsoft was trying to use OneNote contents for AI? Anyway, Obsidian definitely has a steep learning curve, but I'm enjoying it. I love looking at the network of links between my pages. Importing my OneNote files was, for the most part, pretty easy. Some images got messed…

Job thoughts

I think my boss is covertly training me. Covertly because I've expressed lacking confidence and resistance to being a manager before. I've been handling it decently, I think, and would say yes if he brings it up. I don't know how to wrap presents and I'm perfectly content continuing to not know how to do that, though. Meanwhile on the art side of things, someone tried to pay me $25 per…

Mosh pit

I recently went to a concert where I joined the mosh pit for the first time. It was incredible. I fell twice but both times strangers immediately got me back up. I get that punks tend to be leftists but it's nice to feel a sort of mutual aid physically. I cried when I left my best friend to take the train home. Even then, it was nice. My cat has taken a liking to a Cast Iron Plant I saved from the…

Grumbling

Two people got promoted at work recently, and I was inwardly kicking myself for not noticing these positions were up for grabs. After talking to one of them, I found out they are still part time and only make $1 more than I do. This would not at all be enough...and makes me feel a bit better that I didn't apply for it. I've been feeling the itch to organize lately, which is good, but this has only…

Some pagan thoughts

I have been thinking about getting statues for Thor, Odin, and Loki. I wish there were Loki statues I liked more. I really like the Eyrarland statuette for Thor, but it seems like reproductions of it are kind of hard to come by...Odin is at least easier to find a nice statue for. I bought Loki some prayer beads since he's been popping up a lot for me recently. I made some Japanese style hamburger…

Whooppee!

Me and my boyfriend accidentally happened upon the local farmers' market today, which was really nice (even if we didn't get to look around). I would like to take a longer look at it soon. I finally repotted some of my houseplants - a pilea that was in a planter-within-a-planter situation (just not my favorite, visually), a ZZ plant that was starting to outgrow its original plastic planter, and a…

American Psycho

I've been reading American Psycho recently. I have a lot of thoughts on it. If you care about spoilers, proceed with caution! I go back and forth on whether or not I think the book is about (in addition to being a critique of American rich people shit and, potentially, capitalism as a whole) Bateman's struggle to accept his sexuality. I finally hit the first violent scene and was super startled…

July update

It's been a while. Whoops! I just took our cat to the vet for her dental appointment. It's her first ever dental, so I'm anxious about the anesthesia. She is otherwise in good health, so I think she'll be fine. The forms are just intimidating. I've also been playing a lot of Hundred Line. My first real route is an 'interesting' one to say the least. I really like the characters. I've also been…

Apartment hunting

I am incredibly stressed out. We are trying to move out even though we do not make enough money to find a place of similar size. Our current rent is too expensive too. I work retail, minimum wage, 3 times a week. I really wish I had a better job -- better paying, or in some art field. It feels overwhelming. We did just come back from a very fun trip, though. I had great time, just got stressed…
