Rung Two thoughts: Another week, another week, and again ...

Reader’s note: Reminder that Rung Two is “The achievement of one’s objectives requires a good plan and consistent effort.” This is an update on how Franklin’s virtue marking system is working for me.

As a writer, you are encouraged to write for yourself. Some writers always do this, and seldom, if ever, reveal anything they write for themselves to anyone else.

Others write and refine and write, and then fight to publish, and are never published.

Others ask what others want written and write it. I do some amount of this and have for decades.

Others write randomly, scattershot, and spill their words out like leaves gathered off furiously growing trees. They throw these leaves into the wind, and they’re carried away into a field of leaves. And the leaves decay and turn into mulch. And sometimes they are clever colors. And other times they are pretty colors.

Anyway, I suspect, I am mostly the latter.

All that to say, here is a leaf. What does it? It says that. And it also says, this week would have been the week of Industry, but I didn’t ever draw out my chart for the week, and if I had, the dots would have been numerous representing my failure.

But I am old, and I have failed before. This is nothing new. It is neither without effect nor particularly consequential.

It’s like that. And that is that.
