Investigation launched after burglary and car theft in North Belfast

Police are appealing for information following a report of a burglary in Newtownabbey and a vehicle theft in North Belfast.


In the early hours of Saturday morning, a man entered a commercial premises in the Antrim Road area of Newtownabbey before making off with a number of items.


A PSNI spokesperson said: "A report was received at approximately 4am this morning, Saturday 22nd August, that a man had gained entry to commercial premises on the Antrim Road in Newtownabbey, smashing a window and then making off with a number of items.


"Initial enquiries identified a suspect vehicle linked to the burglary. It was later confirmed this vehicle had been stolen from outside a property on the Somerton Road area of north Belfast after access was gained to a house and the car keys taken.
