One of the reasons I love working on The Forgotten Beatles podcast series is finding out about stories like this.

It’s impossible to read anything about John Lennon’s childhood without coming across the name of Pete Shotton. In Ray Coleman’s biography of John, Pete is described by a school period contemporary as John’s “Lieutenant,” and it’s an apt description.

“The only English guitarist who was any good during the late 1950s.” - Jimmy Page talking about Tony Sheridan.

In which I ponder on the lack of published words about the 5th Beatle.

In which I get to visit some special houses, as well as a cellar.

In which a photo of a forlorn Beatle inspired me, we podcast about him, and read an excellent book about him too.

In which we explain the missing podcast episodes, but still produce a new one.

In which I examine the connection between the man in green and the Fab Four, read a new Beatles book, and discover the Man of Steel’s Beatles connection

In which I ponder the enigma that was Jackie Lomax from The Cavern to Apple and beyond

In which I wonder why no-one talks about Simone or Davy.

In which I take a look at when and why at least three drummers other than Ringo were approached about replacing Pete Best.

They may not have made it as a Beatle, but they sure had good careers.

Looking back at May 1960 and a young band on the road.
