We just got back from a trip Up North. It’s a common thing for folks in Michigan (and Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, New York, Tennessee, Georgia and Ontario - all license plates we saw at our hotel) to head up to Northern Michigan and spend time on the Great Lakes.
We visited Traverse City, which is turning into one of my favorite places in the whole state. We stayed on the Grand Traverse Bay and got to walk on the beach every day. We hopped up to Charlevoix to look for Petoskey stones (I found a few small ones!!), ogle the mushroom houses and had lunch at a classic Pizza Hut.
Proper fudge was eaten and I had cinnamon roll French toast from The Omelette Shoppe that was out of this world. It was such a fun trip. I’ll toss some photos in the Lately section!

I got a note from YouTube that they’re going to de-monitize me if I don’t post another video soon, so be on the lookout lol! So wild that taking a few months off can make you start from zero with them.
I did get inspired while on vacation, though, and I’ve already got a couple of ideas that I’m actually really excited about!
I’ll be filming a video about the journaling/planning bag I packed for the trip (It was so heavy omg). And, I set a challenge for myself to make a junk journal from all the ephemera I collected on the trip, so that’ll be a fun DIY video!

Zero crafting was done this week! I’ll definitely dive into the hexagon Kinusaiga this weekend, but I actually knew my limits this time and didn’t bring any crafts to the beach.
I’ll be starting Week 8 next week. I brought it with me, hoping to do some beach reading, but it just didn’t work out and that’s ok. Sometimes, you have to give yourself some grace and know that a break doesn’t mean you’re giving up.

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow (hardback) - This book has blown me away from page 1. The writing is gorgeous. I just enjoy the act of reading it. And the story is so interesting! There's a Camelot-ish story, time travel and commentary on Fascism. I’m fully on board.

We had such a lovely time with family, up North. I am very glad to be back home with our cats, though. It’s time to get back to our routine and we’re all feeling energized to finished out the summer. Time for more crafting, home projects and cat snuggles!
